It is not long into Endless Flight before Egypt let the
listener know what’s up. 10 seconds, maybe? In any case, it’s about a minute
before they’re into the first verse of the opener and longest track (immediate
points), “Endless Flight,” and in very short order the North Dakotan trio
affirm the righteousness of their rolling, bluesy grooves, the hairiness of
their tonality and the thickness of their approach overall, hearkening to the
glory days of Man’s Ruin Records‘ stoner-is-as-stoner-does idolatry without
sounding rehashed or forced in any way. At six tracks/35 minutes, Endless
Flight is in fact a pretty short sojourn, but it’s intended to receive a
companion piece sometime in 2016, the songs from which as I understand it will
at least largely be fruit of the same writing sessions. -
Psychedelic troubadours Radio Moscow will be making their
highly anticipated maiden voyage to Australia & New Zealand this February.
Since their inception in 2003, the Californian based power trio have been hand
crafting first rate rock n roll that pays tribute to the long gone legends of
yesteryear, authentic sounding heavy psych like their hero’s Cream, The Hendrix
Experience and Blue Cheer. Oddly enough all three mentioned bands are also
power trio’s, there’s something to be said about that, much like Nirvana.
The long-awaited sophomore album from Bay Area dark, heavy
rockers, Blackwulf. Employing the guitar pyrotechnics of Pete Holmes and the
Banshee wail of Alex Cunningham, combined with a rhythm section for the ages,
Blackwulf bring out all the best of what is stoner/doom and pure heavy rock.
Ripple Music is thrilled to announce the signing of Boston,
MA heavy rock quartet Gozu and with it the arrival of their third studio album
Revival in Spring 2016.
Since appearing on the underground scene in 2009 after the
release of their self-titled EP, Gozu have continued to lay down a furious and
rare breed of colossal stoner rock. A sound that in recent years has truly come
into its own, already two albums deep with 2010’s Locust Season and 2013’s The
Fury Of A Patient Man, both released on the influential Small Stone Records
Central California quartet Slow Season announce the reissue
of their 2012 self-titled debut album via RidingEasy Records. The band’s
unpretentious throwback full length has been remixed and remastered with new
artwork for proper release on the same label that issued their popular 2014
sophomore album Mountains. The completely renewed Slow Season will be released
on LP, CD and download on December 4th, 2015.
The band’s sound effortlessly nods to greats of the 60s-70s
like Led Zeppelin, The Who, Black Sabbath, et al, without sounding like a
caricature. Rather, as one can immediately hear, this is hypnotic, heavy, and
howling rock ‘n’ roll that defies both musical and temporal categorization.
The Visalia, CA band — Daniel Rice (vocals, guitar), David
Kent (guitar), Hayden Doyel (bass), and Cody Tarbell (drums) — scale new
heights, while recognising where it all began. Having recorded both of their
albums live on reel-to-reel at Tarbell’s home studio, the band eschews the
digital trappings of music today to give their analog sound its crackling,
"After two years of doing big support tours and tons of
festivals we are extremely happy to announce our first headline tour! It has
quite a beautiful name, as you may have noticed. We are very much looking
forward to be able to give our fans a full length show and visiting countries
we have never been to before. Joining us on this tour is the great Dead Lord
from Sweden! We can't wait to see you all! Good times ahead!"

of the leading forces of the resurgent British doom scene in the nineties and
noughties, alongside the likes of Cathedral and Orange Goblin, Electric Wizard
have carved a legacy of thunderous, fuzzed-out ferocity. Formed in 1993, out of
the ashes of Jus Oborn’s earlier doom projects, The Wizard hit the UK
metal scene running. Their debut full length was a great enough introduction to
what would become a legendary band, but their second and third albums, ‘Come,
My Fanatics…’ and ‘Dopethrone’ respectively, are viewed as classics at least
and genre-defining at best. Both albums were a punch to the gut of the doom and
stoner rock genres; louder than an eardrum can take with more distortion than a
kaleidoscope in a hall of mirrors. Electric Wizard have crunched onwards ever since, with
five more devastating, misery inducing albums full of morbidity. One of the
stalwarts who have ensured the burgeoning state of stoner rock throughout
England and beyond, there couldn’t be a more appropriate band to head up this
year’s Desertfest than Electric Wizard.
Heavy Psych Sounds Records&Booking is honoured to
announce that “Buffalo Killers” (Retro Rock / 70’s Rock / Folk n' Roll
/USA-Ohio) (AliveNaturalsound Records/ Heavy Psych Sounds Records) will release
a brand new EP in June with us! And is proud to bring the band in Europe for
the first time ever from June 2nd to June 23rd. Stay tuned for more info soon!
By the time Ripple Music labelmates Wo Fat and Mothership hit the shores of Europe together next April, they’ll both have new records out. In the case of Wo Fat, that will be Midnight Cometh, their first full-length for the label — they also have a limited self-released split 7″ out in Dec. on which they cover Betty Davis‘ “They Say I’m Different”; already sold out — and for Mothership, it’s the Live over Freak Valley LP due Jan. 15 that captures their last voyage abroad. In any case, it will no doubt be a trip to remember, including as it does stops at Desertfest Berlin and London and world-famous venues in Austria, the Netherlands, Denmark and elsewhere.
A true four-piece, Portland, Oregon's Ape Machine has been called "a rock and roll band with a finger on the pulse of the 70's and their asses firmly in the present" and "real heavy-psych for the iPhone generation" that delivers "true guts and glory rock and roll." Combining psychedelic, classic and progressive rock with arena-worthy metal, bluesy stoner-rock and catchy riffs in odd signatures, Ape Machine's music carries an organic depth and warmth rarely heard since the time of rock's glorious early years (or your Dad's bad ass record collection) infused with an exceptional modern sensibility.
