Valley Of The Sun - Volume Rock (2016)

Volume Rock. Of all the words in the English language that could be drawn upon to illustrate the sheer sound and substance of Cincinnati’s Valley Of The Sun, you’d be hard pressed to find two better. Picking up directly where they left off on last year’s Electric Talons Of The Thunderhawk, the Queen City rockers are back in 2016 with a brand new album on Sweden’s formidable Fuzzorama Records.
Set for release on 29th April, Volume Rock is the culmination of the band’s determination and ability to not only write and record great rock songs, but also their drive and ambition to become one of the

Brutus - Wandering Blind (2016)

Oslo’s Brutus are one of those rare breed, a solid and non-corrupted pure blues/hard-rock powerhouse, started by three Swedes and two Norwegians ten years ago and openly in awe of Leaf Hound, Grand Funk Railroad, and Blue Cheer, right on the fence separating the ’60s from the ’70s when musicians were already letting their hair hang but had yet to compromise their vision to please the money-hungry business man.
Recorded live in four days only at Engfelt & Forsgren Studios in Oslo by Christian Engfelt, who already worked with Cato Salsa Experience and Big Bang, Brutus’ third album, Wandering Blind, is as honest and down-to-earth as it gets: no modern tricks, no pose,

Wo Fat - Midnight Cometh (2016)

"Wo Fat have always held a special place in my heart with their obese riffs, destructive rhythms and slow plodding sense of sonic annihilation. They are one of those bands who have always managed to come off as 'heavier than thou' and the chunkier it gets the easier it is to fall in love. While yes, Midnight Cometh does have improvisational passages that get a bit masturbatory in many ways that only adds to the stoned rock and roll charm that Wo Fat so proudly use in order to cultivate a distinct sound and aesthetic.
The inherent jam magic of Midnight Cometh is powerful because it invokes a sort of live magic that you don't often get on wax. While

Bright Curse - Before The Shore (2016)

Formed in London in 2012 out of the expatriated ashes of French psychedelic rock band Soul Manifest, Bright Curse is a band that requires little introduction to anyone that has kept a close ear to the underground in recent years.
This May, the trio – featuring guitar player and vocalist Romain Daut, drummer Zacharie Mizzi and newest member Max Ternebring on bass – will follow up on their 2013 self-titled EP with the release of their full-length debut, Before The Shore, on HeviSike Records. Another rising star and staple of the subterranean/heavy-psychedelic set that has been making a

Red Spektor - Red Spektor (2016)

Fusing the more engaging key elements of psychedelic, stoner and classic rock, new wave Brit rockers "Red Spektor" spit out rock n roll riffs that are hypnotic, energetic and genuinely gripping.
The power trio set about honing their craft in the rehearsal room, soaking up influence from the likes of King Crimson, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Peter Greens' Fleetwood Mac - and were soon in a place where they could take their music to the masses, with a cluster of shows as the band laid siege on the UK.

The rock n rollers have now turned their attention to recording their

Black Rainbows - Stellar Prophecy (2016)

This new effort from the fuzzy trio follows closely the 2015 release of their fourth full-length "Hawkdope" on Heavy Psych Sounds.
BLACK RAINBOWS' frontman Gabriele Fiori comments:

"Stellar Prophecy is in line with our previous record "Hawkdope" released last year. It's made of seven songs for a total running time of fourty-four minutes. You'll be able to enjoy two long suites ("Golden Widow", "The Travel"), a couple of super fuzzy classics ("Electrify", "Is Time to Die"), as well as a 70's-sounding hit ("Woman"). The rest is to be discovered by the listener! We're very happy with this album and find it very well-balanced: it's spacey,

Electric Citizen - Higher Time (2016)

I was first really introduced to Electric Citizen back in November when I saw them opening for Pentagram on two consecutive nights at Saint Vitus Bar. I remember being immediately struck by the power of this band, from Laura Dolan's stunning vocals to the driving power of her husband Ross's riffs. Electric Citizen fully  understand the power of rock and roll and have been able to craft a sound that perfectly reflects their own individual talents. Tapping into occult, almost Coven-esque vibes, as well as invoking the burning rock and roll energy of a band like Blue Cheer, the good folks in Electric Citizen have put out a top notch psych rock record with Higher Time. One of my most hotly anticipated albums of the

The Obsessed, The Atomic Bitchwax and Karma To Burn - North American Tour 2016

That is a gosh darn significant lineup. The Obsessed, The Atomic Bitchwax and Karma to Burn? I mean, really. Who’s gonna complain about that show? Unless you happen to live in/near a city not being hit by the tour, I can’t really see anything to bitch about when it comes to pairing those acts up. Each offers something different from the others, but is completely excellent at what they do, whether that’s The Obsessed‘s trailblazing Maryland doom, The Atomic Bitchwax‘s frenetic winding riffage or Karma to Burn‘s instrumental crunch. Seems reasonable to expect these will be some killer evenings.

Blood Ceremony - Lord Of Misrule (2016)

Now four albums in, Blood Ceremony have crafted their finest release to date in Lord of Misrule. While they’ve admittedly strayed further from their metallic origins, they manage to keep things heavy, though in a different context. From the first notes of album opener “The Devil’s Widow” I was immediately transfixed and sent through a wormhole, coming out somewhere between 1968 and 1973.

“The Rogue’s Lot” is downright haunting. From the deceptively powerful feature riff to the danceable sway of the chorus, the song conjures visions of cloaked (or nude) occultists dancing around a
